I was fortunate enough to be turned on to Bois de Portugal by a perfume counter salesperson [...] in the early 90s when it was first offered for sale. It became my favorite then and still remains so. It certainly doesn't hurt that it is the fragrance chosen by the late Frank Sinatra, Paul Newman, and the living Kevin Costner. Not too bad of company to keep. If only I had their money then I wouldn't consider it expensive and would wear it every day.

Can be overpowering. Use sparingly for desired effect. It starts of with Lavander and lots of it. As it dries down it changes completely to a very woodsy (cedar/sandal woods) scent. It constantly changes as time goes by. It has very good sillage. Has great staying power.It lasts me a good 12 hours. I would recommend to an over 35 crowd. It is mature. The person wearing this DEMANDS respect and attention. It is best for formal occasions, but smells so good I use it for casual as well. I will always have a bottle on hand. High price, but you get what you pay for!

Don't get me wrong, it smells very good...but it's too strong for my tastes. It's definitely NOT for everyday casual/work wear...again, too strong. The "powdery" note (Lavender?) is the strongest. And it lasts long that I actually get sick of the "powdery" note.

This fragrance is also not recommended for men under 30...it's too mature.

Use sparingly, too. Using more than 2 sprays will choke the people around you.

I used this bottle to wake up the ordinary workday. This a classic scent for the sophisticated gent. Lasts all day for me and is not too strong, kinda just hangs there. Once the ladies are in close, they'll know you are something special.
