No matter how many other fragrances my wife and I try, we always come back to 4711. Unlike others, it's subtle while still potent enough to always draw compliments. We never feel when together with other people in a confined space that we are going to bowl them over with the 4711 scent. Whenever we need a pick-me-up, a splash of 4711 does the trick.

I picked up a bottle of 4711 on my first trip to Europe as a souvenir and soon found myself wearing it quite regularly. I find it perfect as a weekend scent - it just smells like a weekend getaway. Also, it's unusual in a classic sense. You won't smell like every other guy.

When it's hot and sticky out this is a great way to cool down without a too over powering fragrance. Just splash it on or if you get the spray....spray it all over. Feels soooo cool.

This scent goes on easily and dries instantly. It feels fresh on contact, although it carries the burn of high alcohol content. During the day, to freshen up, its citrus scent is fresher than a lemon zest in a drink, and feels light and tropical. It also does the job of closing my pores, freshening to a point upon later moistening, and bracing the skin.

Unless you are "allergic" to products bearing German name or origin (and some of us are - I understand there are people who cannot own/drive/sit in a Mercedes, no matter how good it was or is) this is one the greatest bargains (the 27.1 oz size) around. It is not overpowering, it is not long lasting, although I wish it were, longer lasting, that is. Simply stated is a classic that touches days gone by. Use it as an after-shave, as a deodorant, a disfectant or whatever you think cologne is for. Although it is termed uni-sex, I think of it as more appealing to men than women.

I have been using 4711 cologne for almost 50 years and can't imaging not using it every morning, every evening and after every shower. The fragrence is long-lasting but not intimidating or cloying. Its citrus fragrence is informal enough it can be used casually but still is servicable for the most formal occassion. I have often recommended it to friends and family.

Great deal and I use it as an aftershave splash. I guess you can use it as a cologne as well if you prefer. Nice to have flexibility. Classic smell. Will not last all day. A good thing. Just want something right after shaving that works well. Later if you want to use a cologne spray you can do so. Just don't do it right away. Overall, excellent deal for sure. I prefer to use 4711 cologne at bedtime. It has a fresh, clean, citrus smell. It is not overpowering. While is lasts a relatively short time, I think it is an incredible scent, and strongly recommend it, particularly as a late evening product.

Thank you so very much. My boyfriend is in love with it. He believes it is the best cologne he has ever worn. It makes his eyes twinkle when he puts it on. Just for that, it's worth the world to me. And because I told him how my step dad uses it, he feels like no day can go wrong with it on. He said that even if the day goes bad, he would still smell better than anyone. He had never known about it before this. I knew about it because my dad is Jamaican. He uses 4711 for holy water and blessings. He is never without it. I too have used it on a few occasion of needed hope and help. Could you tell me anything about the use of 4711 as holy water? Where it came from and is it truth or legend? If it is legend, believe me, I would never tell my father. It is apart of him and his culture and beliefs. I could never take that away. But if it is truth, it would be great to give him that story. 4711 is a great traditional cologne. It has been around for a long time and it is still great because of its perfect, fresh scent. It is a refreshing cologne for all occasions. In the big bottle it is a fair bargain.

A refreshing lemon scented splash after I shave is a great way to start the day! I read once that this is the cologne that Prince Charles uses, so I tried it and loved it and have used it for years.

Lends to a very individual scent. Blends rather than hides. Can't think of an occasion that would not be appropriate. I have always loved the flood of memories that accompany it's scent. I bought this as a gift for my mother. Being a native German, she has used it all her life and has a hard time finding it in the United States. I've always been aware of the pleasant light scent that doesn't overpower, and how good it feels to rub some on your temples on a hot day, but I was shocked by the size of the bottle for the price! I was expecting what would normally be a large bottle of perfume, maybe 4 inches high. What I received was more like a wine bottle! Can't beat the value, and this was the best price I found on the internet.

I first came across this fragrance in Sydney, Australia when I was with the U.S. Marine Corps. I liked it so much I sent it to my father and brother. That was in 1967. Since then, I have recommended it to my special friends and given it as a gift many times.
My two sons speak of it as "an olds mans cologne"...but now they use it too...
It was just this year that I became aquainted with its history and discovered that it is a mans (and a womans) cologne and its very old...
George Washington using it in the 1790's and all...

My German grandmother used this cologne and I've always loved it. The fragrance is light and not overpowering, but needs to be reapplied for all-day enjoyment, as most colognes do. I keep an atomizer in the car. Interesting, men often ask what 'perfume' I am wearing. They like it.
