I've been wearing AA since before we could get it in this country (was in the Caribbean) nobody had ever smelled anything like it - men, women, everyone.
I know perfumes smell differently on everyone and whatever combination of stuff they came up with, wow! Does it ever work for me.
One thing, use sparingly - it lasts forever and you really don't need much.
Here's a thought: when people tell you how wonderful you smell (and they will) and ask what you're wearing, tell them something else...

In praise of Anais Anais
When I was a teen, I inherited a gorgeous little 3-sided bottle of Dana's Tabu from my grandmother & fell in love with its musky dramatic scent. In my late 20s, I got a tantalizing noseful of a classmate's warm, generous, & delightful scent, & discovered Anais Anais. (Well, she pronounced it Aniz-aniz, but that was close enough for my next stop at a perfume counter.)
While accurately tagged as "sweet", this long-lasting scent is delicate and charming vs. in any way cloying or oppressive. Per Wikipedia, the name "Anais" derives from the Persian goddess of love, Anaitis. Cacherel's Anais Anais is of course doubly lovely, a gentle intoxicant with no ill effect.
In spite of perennial fiscal constraints, I've now worn Anais Anais for nearly 30 years, almost exclusively. (Thank goodness for Scentiments & tester bottles!)
This last note may be just my own concern, as it's surprising that I've been able to enjoy any perfume at all, let alone for so long. I have unusually high reactivity to VOCs & can hardly tolerate most household cleaning or scented products. A long-time choral singer, my voice has frequently just cut out from proximity to other perfumes, whether scents or soaps! It is no faint praise that I have never had an allergic reaction to Anais Anais.
To both love and to be able to sustain an expensive haute couture habit is then even more delightful!

After more than 20 years of using Anais Anais, it is the scent I always come back to, and family members identify the scent with me. The only downer is that I cannot smell it on myself anymore! I wore this day in and day out in my 20's. It was the only perfume I had or cared about. I don't remember why I stopped using it; maybe just to branch out and try other things. But here I am back again 20 years later, and it's just as wonderful as I remember. I don't find it too young. It's just simply wonderful. I find it interesting that every note in Anais Anais are notes that I've grown to love individually. Hyacinth, lily, rose, jasmine, leather (you really can smell the leather!), tobacco flower. I'm not much for true florals, preferring something with a little bit of mystery, and this certainly delivers. Truly an original. It's no wonder I loved it so much. What's really nice about it is that I can wear it all day or at night and never feel like it's inappropriate. I'm a fairly casual kind of girl, but when I put this on, I feel just a little more dressed up. Who needs jewelry when you're wearing something so pretty? This fragrance makes me think of lace and ruffled dresses, but don't be fooled. There is definitely an edge to it. For me, it's so totally wearable, I wonder how I got along without it. And don't be afraid to buy a tester. The staying power is amazing. There is no difference at all; just a lot less money.

The packaging is great, tiny and adorable.. But i think the smell doesnt fit with the package. Perhaps it is about my body chemistry, i just couldnt like the smell on myself.It is too flowery and strong for me. I have just added this scent to my basic two (Caleche for over 30 years, and Joy off and on for 40 years!) It is a wonderful summer fragrance and picks me up after gym and swim class (after showering). A little bit strong at first, but it mellows out nicely by the time I leave the gym. I've been buying this product for my wife of 18 years since we were dating! It's a fragrance that can be worn for a night out or everyday and the scent is unmistakable.
