I purchased this perfume as a gift and I was somewhat puzzled that the perfume came with no box. Usually a sealed box is the proof of the product freshness. If I would have known that I would not have ordered it. Reason for not returning the product: too close to X'mas day.

I use Chanel 5 for work, for special occasions and even on weekends with jeans and a t-shirt. I use it because it reminds me of my mother who was a beautiful woman with excellent taste. She passed away 38 years ago yet I still remember catching an elegant whiff of Chanel #5 whenever she dressed for an occasion. I recently decided to try it and discovered it suits me too. I somehow feel close to her through using the perfume and I love the fragrance.

There are many fragrances that I like, but this has always been my most favorite. When I first starting buying it, it was a little higher priced than most, but now it has become outrageous. Still, I splurge once in awhile and it lasts for a long, long time. A little bit goes a long way.

wheni first started using this perfume it was 1970 i recieved it for abirthday gift from my grandmother i especially loved the black casing it came in i can even remember when you could buy it with the white casing i love this fragrance i am now 54 yrs old and it is as freshly exciting today as it was when i was a young girl if my grandma was still here she would still be using chanel#5................. oh by the way my mother is 86 and this is her speacial sunday perfume

Not everyone can wear Chanel #5, you either like it or hate it. It can be overpowering if you use too much, just a couple of sprays is all you need.
Has a woodsy scent upon application that fades to a powdery smell. I think this is a fragrance for an older woman with its classic scent. If you are not familiar with Chanel #5, I suggest you try before you buy. Go to your local cosmetic counter spray it on and then wait several hours to decide if it is for you or not. This is a good buy but wouldn't really be appropriate as a gift, as, being a tester, it doesn't have the glass top/lid, or a Chanel box.
But being a No 5 girl forever, this is for my personal use, and as such I am very happy with this value for money purchase.

Pierre Cardin for Women, My favorite fragrance of all time was discontinued many years ago..Strangers (men and women) used to lean over to ask me what perfume I was wearing. I was sitting in front of the President of a large Corporation at a presentation and he leaned forward to ask be what I was wearing. Then it began to disappear from stores... Once in a while I'd find it in a warehouses , I even asked people who were traveling to Europe to look for it. Finally it was gone. It's been discontinued for so many years, that if you find it [...],it's strictly for collectors. The perfume is too old to maintain any stability at all. Unfortunately,I couldn't find a frangrance to take it'splace. All of the fragrances I tried were too strong...none had the delicacy ,sophistication and delightful fragrance that Pierre Cardin for Women had. I remembered that my Mom wore Arpege so I tried that. It was certainly better than current perfumes but not exactly right. I continued to sample "the classics" including Chanel. I knew right away that this fragrance was the best replacement I was going to find! Now once in a while someone will say,"isn't that Chanel?" I have grown to love it! Unfortunatly because it's such a classic, It's rarely, if ever "on Sale" or reduced in price. Chanel is light and delicate ...thats what I like about it. But the lighter "Eu du toilet" doesn't last very long. So I need to buy the more expensive "Eu du Parfume" or when I can afford it the "Parfume" The tester I found on Scentiments was by far the best price I've seen for Chanel eu du Parfume anywhere.[...]

One of the first fragrances received as a teen. not musky, doesn't trigger allergies, subtle sweet sexy & adventurous, feels like wearing a fine kid glove all over, a perfect fit. Look forward to seeing more Chanel products available here. Have worn various designer fragrances over the years, but this one is totally unique & always return to it, like coming home.

This fragrance is an olfactory joy. It says classy, light and yet sensual. My only complaint is it's very pricey and never seems to really go "on sale." However, at least once a year, I just have to break down and buy a bottle and, thanks to Scentiments' pricing, I can treat myself to it two or more times a year.

Chanel No. 5 is my signature scent and it's jump-started several romances for me. Definitely a grown-up scent, for evening wear, with fabulous staying power. Beware, though. It mixes with your body chemistry or it doesn't. It either smells heavenly on you or all wrong -- there's no in-between.
