Samsara became my scent in 1989. I was offered a sample when my husband and I were walking through a department store in 1989. I have been wearing this fragrance ever since. It is fresh and delicious. I have strangers stop me to ask what is the fragrance I am wearing. My grandson calls it "Nana's" flowery scent. I have tried other fragrances. One spray or dab tells me they are not mine. 22 years and I still love it. I also use the body cream so I can surround myself with the fragrance. Price has gone up for both items. Not happy about that. It must be worth it. I just purchased both items again.

Samsara has become my signature scent since a perfume I used to love was discontinued. I love putting just a bit of the lotion into my daily lotion to add to the scent that has become me. This fragrance is hypnotic! I first smelled this on a former coworker over 14 yrs ago and it immediately became my signature fragrance. I've worn this daily ever since. There are so many wonderful layers of fragrance in this perfume, and it lasts a long time! Should not be judged by just sniffing the bottle. Only 2 cons: it's been on the market for a long time, so I've associated it with some of my not-so-favorite people, plus I've heard many say they get tired of the smell after a while.

After wearing Guerlain Shalimar for years I noticed Samsara when I went shopping to replenish Shalimar. AS I recall, I wasn't able to test before purchase, just decided to give it a try since I'd had so many compliments when wearing Shalimar. Other than the no longer in existence diBorghese I've never had so many compliments when wearing a fragrance as I've had with SAMSARA.
(#1 - SAMSARA - tied with di Borghese; #2 Shalimar). I think the Guerlain website recommends this for evening wear - I recommend it for 24/7. Not enough adjectives to describe all the positives about this fragrance!
The bottle is different than most other fragrance bottles - in that it's a dark reddish brown. I have some recollection of reading that dark bottles are best for fragrances as exposure to light can break down the scent. This fragrance doesn't last long enough for me to be concerned about that happening! (Unfortunately, O/S ... still or again....) I really wanted to order this, and Shalimar, in the refillable gold canister. I really like the concept of refillable fragrance containers - more perfumers should offer them in a broader variety. Wonder if Guerlain will begin to offer this fragrance in a 2.5 oz. size as they have with Shalimar? I'm keeping my old bottle just in case! The only downside is that I've watched the price increase....but (so far) am still buying it (when I can find it in stock!)
Bottom line: I highly recommend this fragrance!

Samsara has a lovely, gentle smell. I particularly like to wear it in the winter months because it has a warmth too it that lends itself to the colder seasons. Other perfumes have come out after that have similar scents (the warmth, hints of vanilla) and they have done sophisticated marketing, raising the prices of their perfumes - but they can't beat Samsara and it's always less than these newer, trendier perfumes. I prefer the EDP because it lasts longer, but wish it was more readily available on this site.
