This fragrance is simply divine! If you don't want to smell like all others, then run to get this one. It has a clean, french-soapy dry down. Long lasting and definitely will garner compliments. It smells expensive because it is. I love to smell myself whenever I have it on. A little goes a long way, so don't overdo it.

I have been using the Hermes line for 40 years and I would not trade Caleche or Amazone for any other fragrance. These scents are classy, sophisticated and adapt to any person's style.

Caleche is a great perfume that has stood the test of time. A true classic, Caleche is classified as a chypre, but, in fact, it strikes me as more of an aldehydic-woodsy-chypre. The opening is a bit high pitched and lemony. If that sounds bad, don't let it scare you. The parfum probably skips that part; this review is for the soie de parfum (equivalent to EdP). After about a half hour to an hour, the opening aldehydes have settled and the fragrance begins its development. Experienced sniffers may smell a nod or two to Chanel No 5 (in that the florals in Caleche are so well blended, that not one particular flower stands out amongst the others) and Ma Griffe. As time progresses the woodsy notes take over and the whole effect is one of restrained classicism. The great perfumer Guy Robert developed Caleche for the House of Hermes. Robert is known for having created many of the great classics, and Caleche is certainly one of them. By the way, the carriage on the Hermes label actually is not a Caleche; it is a grand duc, not exactly the name you'd choose for a women's fragrance.

I have 36 years of experience with this classic, unbeatable French perfume. No one crafts a modern fragrance as luxuriously and elegantly as the Old Masters. Of course, as with any personal product, it may or may not work for you dependent upon your unique body chemistry. It is fresh, spicy, citrus and lime. Light and not cloying.
